A car’s transmission is one of the most important components in a car that is responsible for transferring the engine’s power to the wheels. No matter how powerful your car’s engine is, it is useless without an effective gearbox that allows all that power to be effectively ushered towards the wheels. 

This is the exact problem that has kept developers and researchers going to develop an effective system for power transfer. Until recently, cars having engines with great amounts of horsepower struggled to put power to the road when launched from static, resulting in copious amounts of wheel spin and tyre burnout. The gearbox technology of the time just could not keep up with the pace of engine development, which is why technologies like Mercedes’ ESP and BMW’s DSC were developed to control engine output and improve performance.
