PPFs have been around for a few years now being installed in majority new petrol vehicles with small or large engines, this extends to high powered engines also such as the new Audi S3 & RS3, VW Golf R, BMW M140i, BMW M135i even the new Mercedes A35 & A45s have a PPF! 

A PPF (Petrol Particulate Filter) is an inline exhaust filter designed to capture soot particulates in direct injection petrol engines (GDI). Much like a DPF, it comprises of a honeycomb-like filter structure made from a synthetic ceramic material. These filters are highly efficient, capturing in excess of 90% of airborne particulates although reduce the sound of the exhaust dramatically!

Why Remove the PPF  / GPF / OPF ?

The PPF Removal Procedure

First of all we remove the internal filter from the exhaust system, we do not usually fit a bypass pipe unless requested (contact us for more info). Instead, we modify the original PPF unit by cutting a small window in the top of the PPF chamber, we then remove the internal filter, weld the window back into place and refit the PPF unit to the vehicle.

Once the physical filter removal has been completed the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) is reprogrammed (Remapped). Remapping the vehicle’s ECU will remove the sensors / GPF system and prevent the ECU from flagging an error. Our PPF Delete remap is normally combined with other changes to the ECU to improve engine performance (Stage 1+ software).
